Involuntary Outpatient Commitment DiscussionCourt-ordered mandates to comply with "treatment," inevitably psychiatric drugs, are variously characterized as Involuntary Outpatient Treatment (IOC) or a Community Treatment Order (CTO). By any name, there is a movement to coerce individuals living in the community to comply with whatever orders mental health professionals testify is helpful. This panel is a discussion of strategies to oppose coercion in the community, including successful outcomes. Emphasis will be on the circumstances in different states and in Canada.
