The Definition of Chemical Restraint -- Clinical and Legal Controversies

The use of chemical restraint is prohibited by federal regulations and by the Joint Commission. However, years after the regulations were announced, profound disagreement exists as to what constitutes prohibited chemical restraint. Neither clinicians nor advocates have a standard position on this issue. Join us for a conversation and attempt to reach consensus on what constitutes a chemical restraint.
