As of July 2022, Paul Acker is a Community Impact Manager at The Housing Collective (formerly known as Supportive Housing Works), an organization described as "the backbone for organizations working to end homelessness and ensure stable, affordable housing is available for everyone." Before joining the Housing Collective, Paul was the Program Manager and Senior Policy Advisor at Advocacy Unlimited (AU). Prior to his tenure at AU, Paul had over 10 years’ experience working in the mental health system. He has been active with, and served as Co-Chair of, the Keep the Promise Coalition, a statewide advocacy organization in Connecticut recognized for its successful advocacy in expanding housing, community based services and opportunities for community integration. He was the Assistant Executive Director and then Acting Director of Focus on Recovery-United, Inc. (FOR-U), Connecticut's first peer bridger program. Paul has also served as the Chair of Disability Rights Connecticut's Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI) Advisory Council, and he is a former member of DRCT's Board of Directors.
