Kristina Kapp (KK)

Kristina Kapp, better known as KK, serves as the Chair of Disability Rights Ohio’s Protection & Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI) Advisory Council and is a member of the DRO’s Board of Directors (P&A). KK burst onto the scene of this world on December 31st. Yes, on New Year’s Eve. Her mother had always told her that, the celebration and fireworks exploded all over the world just for you.” Humorously enough, to this day KK believes it so! She strives to bring that energy, excitement and “New Years’’ resolutions into all environments that she enters. KK has created a beautiful masterpiece of the adversity life has presented. Overcoming and passing on the strength and wisdom gained through her very real, impactful life experiences. Choosing to view her disability and "trauma" as an opportunity to learn, grow and raise the bar, to a standard above and beyond the box of conventional, societal limitations. Superseding chromosomal birth abnormalities, childhood prognoses and expectations set to live life within the walls of institutions with the dream of one day graduating to a group home setting. It was the well of human potential that was taped, bringing forth a flow of hope and belief in herself and others opening endless door of limitless possibilities. Contrary to the standard way of limited thinking that IDD, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse Disorders defines who we are, implying a celling of potential. Alternatively, this created the foundation on which she stands and built her future. Blazing the trail and igniting a revolution in alternative workaround innovations a creative development. Cultivating with hope, sewing seeds of empowerment, watering with Belief in every Human's Potential. She has worked in the behavioral health field for 22 years. And without hesitation, she very proudly lives her life out loud. BELIEVE IT... BECOME IT... BE IT...
