MAUREEN MILLS, M.S.W.
Maureen Mills has been with the Ohio Legal Rights Service (OLRS) for 23 years. OLRS is Ohio's federal and state designated Protection and Advocacy System for people with disabilities. Among her duties are advocating on behalf of children in residential treatment centers to end the use of restraint and create violence free, trauma informed environments that encourage health and recovery. Maureen manages agency databases including OLRS' Major Unusual Incidents (reports of abuse, neglect and other significant events) and Restraint and Seclusion Incidents. She manages the database for a statewide Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Needs Assessment. She is Project Director for a federal Family Support 360 grant planning a single point of entry for families who have young children with disabilities. Prior to coming to OLRS, Maureen spent six years developing and implementing abuse prevention programs for people with disabilities, training of direct service staff, and in-services for administrative and clinical staff on organizational factors that contribute to violence and those that promote health and safety.
