Noel Hunter, M.A.

Noel Hunter has long held an interest in advocating for alternatives to the current biomedical paradigm in American psychiatry. She has published and presented papers on the link between trauma and psychosis, the trauma of involuntary hospitalization, and the need for recognition of states of extreme distress as meaningful responses to overwhelming life experiences. Currently, she is an adjunct professor in the graduate department of psychology at Long Island University where she teaches a recovery model of psychopathology. She is also a doctoral candidate (Psychology, 2016) at LIU, specializing in psychosocial approaches to severe emotional distress.
