Beth Mitchell, J.D.

Beth Mitchell has worked as an attorney at Advocacy, Inc. for 17 years. During her first five years with Advocacy, Inc., Beth worked as a regional attorney, first in Lubbock, then Austin. As a regional attorney, she worked on issues in the areas of mental health, developmental disabilities and special education. She represented individuals in commitment hearings, treatment cases, cases involving the ADA, employment discrimination and civil rights cases. Her main focus during his time was advocating for the rights of individuals in state hospitals. During the past two years, Beth has worked as a Legal Services Senior Attorney. In this position, she has represented individuals with mental illness in system change, impact litigation, and administrative proceedings; drafting and sponsoring legislation; and providing legal backup to the Advocacy, Inc. Regional Offices.
