Leah Harris, 26, is a daughter of a mother and father who were both labeled as mentally ill, and is herself a survivor of psychiatric abuse as a child and teen. She is a member of NARPA and the Support Coalition International (SCI) Youth Committee. Leah is also helping to edit survivors' testimonies for the SCI oral history project. She is currently writing a book of prose and poetry about her experiences with the mental health system. Her poetry has been published in New York City Voices, The Writers' Way Journal, and Chiaroscuro: A Journal of Peace and Conflict. She was a recipient of the 2001 American University in Cairo Madlyn Lamont Literary Prize for the short story.
