Al Siebert, Ph.D., author of The Survivor Personality
Psychiatrists are experts in mental illness, not mental health. They seldom tell patients about positive outcomes of psychiatric conditions. Research has documented that 20% to 30% of the most severely psychotic patients are discovered many years after discharge to be fully and totally recovered-without medications-and another 30% achieve full social recovery. Psychiatric patients almost never hear that many people fully recover and then go beyond recovery to become even more mentally healthy than they were before. Participants will take Al Siebert's popular quiz on how to develop resiliency skills for surviving and thriving in adverse conditions, receive a list of questions to ask people who advocate and defend medical model thinking, and learn about "successful schizophrenia."
