Is ECT Safe? Ask the US Government. Then Ask Us

Linda Andre and Doug Cameron, Committee for Truth in Psychiatry (CTIP).

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulates the machines used to give ECT. It currently considers ECT a dangerous, high-risk treatment. For 20 years organized psychiatry has lobbied the FDA to brand ECT safe — without the legally required safety investigation. Now, FDA is poised to grant the shock industry's request. It will happen unless survivors, advocates, professionals and the public out-lobby the industry. Come learn the history of the conflict between shock doctors and patients at the FDA, and join the campaign to keep ECT machines in the high-risk category.
