Mary Jo O'Brien, R.N., served as a stakeholder on focus groups that developed San Diego County's Mental Health System Redesign and the RFP for the Consumer Center, where she has been employed as a health advocate since it opened in 1999. Mary Jo is a staunch advocate for expansion of client-run programs, has consulted on start-up projects for three client-run programs and served on the California Network of Mental Health Clients Board of Directors. She is the recipient of the 2006 Dan Reese Client of the Year Award and the 1999 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Mental Health Association of San Diego County.
